Richard is a journalist, broadcaster and public speaker. He’s best known as host of The Business Breakfast – a daily radio show on Dubai Eye 103.8FM. In total he has two decades experience reporting for the likes of Reuters, The Economist, The Financial Times and Bloomberg, across the Middle East and in London.
Richard is an acclaimed and sought-after public speaker, having notched up hundreds of paid events as keynote speaker, MC, interviewer and moderator. He’s shared a microphone with a string of A-list global speakers from the fields of business (Sir Richard Branson) politics (Tony Blair) sport (Sachin Tendulkar) and the arts (Sir Ben Kingsley).
Richard earned the nickname ‘The Three Degrees’ for his seeming addiction to academia. At the age of 21 he graduated with a degree in history; at 31 he got his postgraduate diploma in economics; and at 41 his masters in mass communication. For two years he taught journalism at Middlesex University Dubai, which he describes as the toughest yet most rewarding job he’s ever done.
His first book Sink or Swim analysed Dubai’s boom-to-bust-to-boom economy of the late 2000s. Crowdpleaser is his second.
Richard is a non-executive director of Roar, an award-winning interior design firm which he owns with his architect wife, Pallavi. They live in Dubai with their two sons and two pugs.
